RRD Facility Spotlight: Clear Visions Inc.
8/29/2025

Founded in 1981, Clear Visions Inc. (CVI) is a full-service print and mail operation in San Antonio, Texas. The 40,000-square-foot facility boasts a comprehensive roster of services — from printing and die-cutting to warehousing and mailing.
“We’re a relatively small facility — 40 employees in all — and that provides us with a ‘get everybody in one room’ kind of mentality,” says Steve Berg, CVI President. “And although we’re a local company, we have an international presence as part of RRD. Customers can walk in the front door, but we can get their materials printed globally if need be.”
We caught up with Steve to learn more about CVI, their flagship mailing department, and how they have created a culture built around customer service.
What about this facility makes it unique in the marketplace?
Steve Berg (SB): CVI has a 40-year-plus history of servicing the commercial printing and mailing needs of all types of industries in the San Antonio area — from healthcare and finance to retail and manufacturing. We continue to strive to commit to our clients’ needs in a constantly changing marketing world. In doing so, we have created a family culture of togetherness and team spirit that makes us very effective when it comes to producing quality products.
If you had to narrow it down to one thing, what would you say is your facility’s forte?
SB: We regard ourselves as experts at what we do, which is primarily print and mail. Of course, we do other things as well, but we predominantly service the mail marketing business with sheetfed and variable digital needs, large and small. We have a first-in-class logistics and data management team, and we average 4-5 million pieces per month, 100% in-house — whereas most of our competitors utilize a mail house. The bottom line is that we’re passionate about working with customers to heighten response rates, reduce time-to-mailbox, lower postage costs, and improve ROI.
What role do you see CVI playing in your clients' evolution? How do you help clients evolve so that they keep pace with their customers' demands?
SB: At CVI, we’re very aware that consumers and the market have been returning to direct mail and printed catalogs, but these must have a personalization component as well. Digital and variable is where it’s at now. As our clients deploy these channels, we’re well-positioned to help them because of our expertise in personalized variable printing and mailing, our manufacturing capabilities, and our knowledge of the marketplace. This allows us to not only keep pace but also excel in meeting our clients’ future demands.
In addition, being a secure facility is also a point in our favor. We’re SOC 2+ and HITRUST certified, as well as cGMP-compliant for warehousing. For our clients, their data is their currency — and that value depends on trust.
Can you share how your facility’s technology has played a critical role with a client?
SB: Our expertise in data processing, in combination with our digital variable presses, provides our clients with the benefit of direct mail marketing. One of our largest clients has continued to work with CVI for many years because of that technology and expertise. They’re also serious about security issues, and since nothing we do for them ever leaves the building, they recognize that as a major benefit. We’re their first option for any applicable project.
Although it’s not technology-related, another reason this client continues to work with CVI is that we’re local. They can come here for a press check, a tour, a conference — whatever. So we can provide that local support as well as offer them global support — it’s a significant combination that plays a large role in satisfying their needs.
When talking about CVI to an associate or a potential customer, what do you find yourself repeating time and time again?
SB: Our company mantra is “How can I help?” It’s not just a mission statement or slogan, but rather part of the fabric of what Clear Visions is. We’re a family that’s focused on improvement and efficiency for producing a quality product, and it’s a culture we’ve been building here for the past several years. We are all in this together — we have one of the best staffs in the business, all working together as one. And as Richard Branson once said, if you take care of your employees, you’ll never have to worry about customers.
