RRD’s Business Communication Solutions team helps leading insurance company modernize fragmented print production

CHALLENGE

A leading life insurance company sought to phase out their internal print shop and simplify a fragmented production environment that relied on multiple vendors and manual processes. The company required a more scalable and efficient approach that would reduce operational complexity, lower costs, and free internal teams to focus more heavily on core business priorities.

SOLUTION

The company entrusted RRD with helping them transition from an internally managed print operation to a more centralized communications environment.

Building on a successful commercial print relationship, the company was introduced to RRD’s Business Communication Solutions team. The engagement supported the migration of communications previously handled in-house, including notices, statements, policies, billing, and more.

RRD worked closely with the company’s IT teams, business stakeholders, project managers, and business analysts to modernize workflows and support the transition. RRD’s programming teams first ingested the company’s precomposed files and built dynamic logic. This included migrating the company from a fragmented cut-sheet environment to a dynamic white paper factory model designed to consolidate applications, automate production processes, and support broader business continuity objectives.

The solution consolidated print jobs and streamlined and automated production, enabling the company to transition away from their previous in-house model. In addition, RRD helped the company develop a business continuity solution designed to address operational risks identified by executive leadership.

RESULTS

By partnering with RRD, the company achieved meaningful operational and strategic outcomes, including:

  • Reduced reliance on internally managed print operations
  • Improved workflow consistency through increased automation and production consolidation
  • Streamlined communications processes across multiple operational applications
  • Reduced operational risk through a more reliable production strategy
  • Improved alignment among business, IT, and production teams
  • Enabled internal resources to focus on core business priorities instead of print management
