Skincare Brand Benefits From Consolidated Packaging Production | Health & Beauty

Experienced packaging partner helps skincare brand overcome quality and consistency issues 


An emerging national skincare brand with product distribution via retail and e-commerce was seeking consistent packaging for its products. Their packaging provider had engaged multiple vendors, which meant using inconsistent paper stock and multiple presses for printing their folded cartons. 

Color and brand consistency issues were occurring across all products, coatings, and substrates, taking away positive equity from the premium nature of the brand.  

Additionally, they were seeking a partner who could quickly and expertly create new packaging structures as well as add print and finishing embellishments for a growing product line, improving brand and quality awareness.  


RRD collaborated with the client to provide a step-by-step solution to help the brand overcome packaging quality issues with folding cartons, branded corrugated product shippers, and subscription boxes. 

With extensive product knowledge, design, and engineering capabilities, we reviewed their packaging and were able to identify a number of areas that could benefit from consistency and offered possibilities for solutions, spanning multiple SKUs and structures. These areas for process improvement included:

  • Part numbers
  • Dieline inventory
  • Standardization of paper stocks
  • Production outputs

RRD was also tasked to recommend custom mix colors versus standard PMS colors. Four-color values were also changed to help match non-paperboard products such as jars and tubes.


Achieving critical color match and consistency were accomplished in a collaborative manner with the client through digital press proofing, local press checks, and consultation with the account support team.  

The entry point of packaging revealed additional avenues where RRD was able to add value through commercial print, retail point of sale, and direct mail. RRD was able to scale with the client’s growth and transition from being a folding carton supplier to a trusted business partner.
