RRD Earns Top Honors at 2025 North American Paperboard Packaging Competition

RRD was honored with the Package of the Year Award at the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) 2025 North American Paperboard Packaging Competition. The PPC, the leading trade organization for the paperboard packaging industry, awarded RRD’s collaboration with quip, a leading oral care brand known for innovative, technology-forward products.
Often described as the “Oscars of the paperboard industry,” the annual competition is the premier showcase for packaging design and manufacturing. Judges evaluate entries across a wide variety of industries that exemplify the transformative power of paper-based packaging across the global supply chain. In addition to the prestigious Package of the Year Award, RRD was honored with five Excellence Awards and one Gold Award.
A culture of partnership-driven innovation
The award-winning packaging was developed for quip’s Rev Oscillating Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush, a product that embodies modern simplicity and sustainable design. quip sought packaging that would maintain the brand’s premium aesthetic while also reducing environmental impact and optimizing material efficiency.
RRD Asia's global design and engineering teams deployed a fully paper-based, 100% recyclable solution that replaced previous plastic components with molded pulp. Implemented through a phased approach across five distinct generations, the design reduced overall packaging size and weight, driving cost and freight efficiencies. Additionally, a one-pull unboxing feature enhanced consumer experience — all while complementing the product’s high-end look and feel.
The honored design reflects RRD’s ability to balance creativity and practicality. This evolution was the product of multi-phase innovation, testing, refinement, and close collaboration with quip’s internal teams — demonstrating our commitment to helping our clients reduce costs, advance sustainability, and create memorable consumer experiences.
